How do we request a grant?

How to complete and submit a request for a grant.

Step 1: Check your project meets the Trust Funding Criteria:

  • the project is located in an impacted region or district
  • the project is community, iwi, hapū and/or marae led
  • the project is ready to action as soon as funding is received
  • proof that the project has been completed is easily provided
  • the project is not a grant to individuals.

Please note: The Trustees have agreed that they will not use the Trust funds to make grants for larger recovery and hard infrastructure projects.

Step 2: Check your project meets the Trust Funding Priority:

Small scale projects with a tangible benefit able to be quickly delivered.

Step 3: Check if your community group, iwi, hapū or marae is registered in the Te Tari Taiwhenua Department of Internal Affairs' Grants Management System (DIA Grants System)

If you don't have a DIA Grants System account

Step one: Check your project meets the Trust Funding Criteria:

  • the project is ready to action as soon as funding is received
  • proof that the project has been completed is easily provided
  • the project is not a grant to individuals.

Step two: Check your project meets the Trust Funding Priority:

Small scale projects with a tangible benefit able to be quickly delivered.

Step three:
Download and complete the Project Proposal template, which includes Terms and Conditions to be signed.

Please note: this process is only for non DIA Grants System registered community groups, iwi, hapū and marae.

Step four:
Attach your completed and signed Project Proposal to an email and send the email to info@cycloneappeal.govt.nz.

Please note: if you are a community group, iwi, hapū or marae, and you are registered in the DIA Grants System, but have not applied through it, your proposal will be returned for you to submit through the system.
