The Appeal is now closed

The Appeal is now closed to donations to enable the Trustees to ensure all the funds raised by the Appeal are distributed.

Funds may only be used as set out in the Trust Deed which is relief from the January and February severe weather events.

Applications to the recent grant funding round meeting the Trust funding objective greatly exceed the funds available for grants.

The Trustees have closed the fundraising appeal so that they may accurately predict, and use, all the funds available.

The Trustees want to thank all the people and organisations who have donated to the Trust fund either directly, or through the special purpose Lotto draw.

About the Trust

Applications for funding from the Cyclone Gabrielle Appeal Trust Fund from anyone in Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, East Coast and Hawkes Bay regions and the Tararua district closed on 29 May 2024. Grant decisions will be notified by 25 July 2024.

The Cyclone Gabrielle Appeal was launched to support and empower hāpu, iwi, marae and communities to rebuild in a way that works best for them. It complements other funding available to affected regions and impacted communities to support their resilience to respond to extreme weather events.
