About the Trust

The Cyclone Gabrielle Appeal Trust Fund is open for applications from anyone in Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, East Coast and Hawkes Bay regions and the Tararua district.

The Cyclone Gabrielle Appeal was launched to support and empower hāpu, iwi, marae and communities to rebuild in a way that works best for them. It complements other funding available to affected regions and impacted communities to support their resilience to respond to extreme weather events.

The Trustees have been told there are many small scale projects that communities, iwi, hapū and marae want and they can quickly complete. They want to fund these.

About the Trust

The Trust Appeal Fund has $14 million available for grants. Grants are likely to fund smaller community projects, and will not fund hardship grants to individuals or grants for larger recovery and hard infrastructure projects.

Applications opened on 20 March 2024 and close on 29 May 2024.

The Trustees want to thank all the people and organisations who have donated to the Trust fund either directly, or through the special purpose Lotto draw.
